Welcome to the College Debt SMP

Joining the server

There are two available server IP to connect to:

• Through the public address: smp.sheldonbois.dpdns.org

• Through the server's Tailscale VPN: smp.sheldonbois.ts

Look at the update history to know which version of Minecraft to use.

For most scenario, use the public address. Connecting through the VPN is more secured, but require Tailscale to be installed on your machine.

Performance Improvement

Minecraft Java Edition is not very optimized out of the box. Even with a high-end system, there are additional performance gain we can have. The easiest way to achieve this is to use a modpack.

Fabulously Optimized

For the majority of system, the Fabulously Optimized modpack will do the trick.

• For the vanilla Minecraft Launcher, follow the installation instruction here

• [Recommended] Prism Launcher user can directly download the modpack as an instance. Detailed instruction is here

• For other third-party launchers, instructions are available within the same page

Optifine has been a go to option in earlier versions of Minecraft. Its effectiveness has been surpassed by Fabulously Optimized.

VulkanMod on Apple Silicon Mac/Macbook

Due to the nature of macOS and Apple M-series chips, using the VulkanMod will give you the best performance improvement.

Prism Launcher user can directly download the mod onto an existing instance with the Fabric Loader. The mod is not directly compatible with the Fabulously Optimized Modpack.

In any case where the mod is not updated to the latest version of Minecraft, use the Fabulously Optimized modpack in the meantime.

Simple Voice Chat

The server supports Proximity Voice Chat via the Simple Voice Chat mod. This gives you the best in-game chat experience.

Prism Launcher user can directly download the mod onto an existing modded or Fabulously Optimize instance.

Play from Bedrock

Minecraft on consoles and mobile devices uses the Bedrock version of the game. The server supports connecting from these clients in addition to Java Edition clients. You will use the same player data as your Java Edition account.

Console players are required to have an active online subscription from their platform (Nintendo Switch Online/Playstation Plus/Xbox Game Pass). Since custom servers are not directly supported on these system, you need to follow this guide.

By default, you must authenticate with your Java Edition Microsoft account on each join. To have this information saved, provide the server admin your Bedrock username.
